About This Pipe Tobacco
Named for friend and customer Capt. Bob Coffey, Captain Bob's Blend from Cornell & Diehl is a mixture of Virginias and Burleys with just a dash of Latakia and Perique, finished with a refreshing flavor.
Customer Reviews
At some point someone - I’m thinking Merlin the Magician - found a way to make an innocent looking brown ribbon blend, flecked with black pearls , from a laundry list of tobaccos : Virginia, Latakia, Perique, burley, orientals and black cavendish. Then just to make the tobacco version of the Upside Down, they have added some magical concoction of flavorants that’s quite beguiling.
If you haven’t figured it out - this review is not going to be in my normal format. But this tobacco isn’t in any normal format so what’s fair is fair.
Aroma. I say Grape Fanta , herbals spices , candy floss and smoke. My wife says Cherry Blow Pops and fresh brewed tea.
This is the weirdest blend I’ve ever tried to date. I swear it tastes like grape soda one second, and somehow like freshly grated ginger the next. Grape ginger ale? Yes , please.
Am I having a stroke ? Nothing in this makes me think pipe tobacco. It’s weirdly like being on a trip , not to grandmas but a “trip” trip - where you see past what’s there to what’s really there, man. Far out.
I’m freaking enchanted. I went to the site to reread the description. “Finished with a refreshing flavor”. Uh huh. Because they couldn’t say “finished with a weird technicolor boat trip of taste sensations”.
I texted no less than 5 people about this blend. I ordered a pound, too. I want this to give friends as a sample - just to watch them and see if they “get it”.
Oh - the ginger thing whatever ? That’s a bit of the after taste , too. And when you try it - because you need to try this - enjoy a glass of cold water with it. I swear it amped up and broadened it.
It’s just funky. And I love it.
Is this an American Lakeland ? Is this 1792’s crazy yankee cousin?
That’s what it’s closest to to me - 1792 - oh! Firedance ! It’s like thier cousin. And I love them, too.
Anyway - bravo. What a way to hit blend number 40. With a weird funky sweet fun crazy psychedelic trip of a blend that’s like eating sushi ginger and chasing it with a Nehi soda.
Easily my favorite blend of the 40 so far
I have so many questions ….
My rating : 5- this is great - I already ordered a pound

Two puffs in my mouth tasted so horrid and I instantly dreaded potentially ruining one of my pipes with ghosting.
I dumped the bowl in a jar of ash and Dottle… and guess what… this blend out stank my Dottle jar! Every time I open the jar up it’s the most overpowering smell there is.
God bless whoever likes this. I was just hoping for a little grape, not a chakra opening stank sesh...Read More
