About This Pipe

Jason Mouton has spent almost his entire life in Gueydan, Louisiana, known as the "Duck Capital of America" since 1977. He grew up hunting ducks with his father, and as a teenager, began learning how to make duck calls: an experience that would give him plenty of time working with lathes before he started making pipes as an adult. Jason made his first pipe in 2018, giving it away as a gift. He sold his second pipe, kept his third for himself, and since then has made a fine name for himself as an artisan pipe maker.

The shank of this bent Bulldog is hexagonal instead of diamond-shaped owing to extra ridgelines on either side of the shank, a fascinating choice on Jason's part that helps this piece stand out in a crowd of available Bulldogs. The bowl is relatively round below the single beadline for the traditional shape, while the portion of the bowl above the beadline is steep, nearly vertical in its orientation before reaching the rim. Dark, smoothly finished flame grain rings the bowl, and the brief shank out back is upturned into a bent vulcanite saddle stem with an accent of pale yellow horn.
