About This Pipe
With a pipe-making career that dates to the 1960s, Erik Nørding is a prolific Danish carver who's known around the world for his signature take on the Danish Fancy design style. His Brown Matte series comprises pipes that fit well within this style, complete with shaping that includes fluting channels, firm ridges, and organic flourishes that make every piece unique despite being factory-made. The line's namesake comes from the low-gloss, high-contrast stain that dresses the stummel, pairing chestnut hues with darker streaks that define the briar's natural grain — as exemplified by this particularly reserved Freehand.
