About This Pipe
The Cauldron shape is one that's readily associated with Italian pipe making, although carvers and marques from other countries have been known to put their own unique spin on the whimsical design. Caminetto has presented an excellent rendition with this piece. At its roots, the Cauldron resembles a plump Apple with a pinched waistline, stylistically contrasted by the rim, which is raised high and flares dramatically. There's no shortage of chamber to be found within the towering bowl, while the well-bent saddle stem allows for comfortable clenching. It's a thoroughly Italian design with plenty of playful whimsy, presented by an esteemed Italian workshop and further enhanced by the handsome, chestnut-hued stain of the stummel: one that reveals dense tendrils of flame grain beneath and a small section of plateau along the rim.
