About This Pipe
In the late 1960s, two Castello pipe makers, Guiseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice, left to found their own workshop, Caminetto. Their skilled craftsmanship grew Caminetto into one of the most popular marques of the 1970s and beyond. This Hawkbill by Caminetto possesses the shape's requisite aquiline shank-and-stem arrangement, as the shank arcs sharply upward from the transition before gently returning to parallel, while the abbreviated saddle stem presents a demure downward bend to the bit. The crisp, muscular shank and stem are paired to a shapely Billiard bowl, and its supple curves are further accentuated by the high-set transition. Furthermore, the stummel is dressed in a smoky smooth finish that highlights impressive grain across the briar's surface.
