About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.
This bent Dublin from Claudio Cavicchi is a thoroughly Italian take on the classic shape, with a tall, dramatically forward-canted bowl paired to a hearty shank-and-stem arrangement with sweeping, gestural posture. The bottom horizon of this piece's silhouette takes on one full, continuous curve, imbuing the form with a fullness that allows it to conform to the contours of the palm. Out back, a lengthy, bent saddle stem offers a relaxed smoking posture in hand. The stummel wears Cavicchi's Brown Smooth finish, which highlights hearty tendrils of flame grain creeping along the bowl and pools of birdseye eddying along the rim and shank.
