About This Pipe
In the late 1960s, two Castello pipe makers, Giuseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice, left to found their own workshop, Caminetto. Their skilled craftsmanship grew Caminetto into one of the most popular marques of the 1970s and beyond. This bent Egg from Caminetto is a handsome take on the classic form, distinguished by an Oom Paul-like shank-and-stem arrangement. The vertically posed combination supports a tall, full-bodied bowl that tapers from a drooping, protruding heel to a taut rim. Measuring less than five inches in overall length, the shape offers convenient portability while still featuring a bowl with a capacious tobacco chamber. It's dressed in a rich, grain-defining smooth finish and accented with a bright metallic mount.
