About This Pipe
With over 50 years of experience in making pipes, Claudio Cavicchi has become an expert in the craft with a renowned ability to showcase the best possible grain of each block of briar he uses. Graded three "C's" out of a possible five, this bent Dublin from Cavicchi is a fine example of his stellar craftsmanship. A graceful, unbroken undercurve begins at the fore rim and takes a swing around the wide heel into an airily uplifted shank-and-stem arrangement, lending the pipe an aura of elegance. Shallow mesas of plateau spot the rim. From the softly rounded heel, flame grain extends toward said rim, following the direction of the bowl's cant and thereby lending strong forward motion to the pipe. An accent of spalted beechwood brightens the junction with a pop of textural variety. The smooth stummel wears a light stain that shows off excellent grain, evidence of Cavicchi's keen eye for reading briar.
