About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops. Having received an impressive four-C grade, this Dublin is a lovely piece from the seasoned artisan.
This offering pairs a subtly flaring, dramatically forward-canted bowl to a long, Lovat-like shank-and-stem arrangement. The protracted shank offers plenty of space to comfortably drape a digit, and the tall, thick-walled bowl boasts a cavernous chamber with ample room for a favorite blend. Flame grain engulfs the flanks of the shank and climbs up the walls of the bowl, while dense curlicues of birdseye swirl along the rim, shank, and underside of the piece; all are dressed in one of Cavicchi's signature finishes. Smooth and honey-blonde, said finish imbues the piece with an inviting warmth and a sleek in-hand feel.
