About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.
This bent Dublin from Cavicchi is a hearty take on the classic shape. The thick-walled bowl dominates the composition, taking on a self-assured forward cant as it flares at the fore of a lengthy, cylindrical shank that offers ample room to drape a digit. A concise saddle stem tops off the composition; its extremely subtle downturn promotes a comfortable smoking posture. Dressed in Cavicchi's signature smooth, honey-blonde finish, the stummel showcases a wealth of handsome grain, with flame grain fanning across the walls of the bowl and the flanks of the shank, and tight curlicues of birdseye swirling along the top and underside of the shank. Plateau peeks out from the rim, lending the composition a dose of rugged, organic texture.
