His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops. Having received a commendable three-C grade, this Cherrywood is certainly a fetching piece from the seasoned artisan.

This Cherrywood exhibits the characteristic forward slant of the archetypal shape, but deviates with its exaggerated proportions and tilted, undulating rim, which draws the eye straight to the bowl in true Italian neoclassical fashion. The upturned shank starts out fairly narrow as it emerges from the low-set transition, but flares with a flourish as it meets the saddle stem. This flared shaping mimics that of the bowl, thus establishing a pleasing repetition of visual rhythm. Hearty flame grain streaks the walls of the bowl, while tight clusters of birdseye swirl around the rim; all are dressed in one of Cavicchi's signature smooth, honey-blonde finishes.
