About This Pipe
Some of Claudio Cavicchi's Acorn renditions are of the taller, more slender variety, marked by distinctly pointed heel spurs. Others are more like this pipe, characterized by a more squat, bulbous demeanor and without a pointed heel. Such shaping makes this example all the softer of line and well-suited for in-hand comfort — the flaring form, genteel curves, and muscular disposition all conforming perfectly to wrapped fingers. The shank's slight relative lengthiness makes for excellent compositional harmony, and it's joined by a brief, downturned saddle stem. The briar is replete with rippling growth rings, which are emphasized by one of Cavicchi's signature sandblasts, here stained an earthy brown hue.
