About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.
This bent Apple is an unmistakably "Cavicchi" offering, featuring a plump-heeled bowl paired to a hearty, lengthy shank and a swiftly bent saddle stem. While the bowl's fore wall is plump and curvaceous, its aft wall is slightly more rigid and linear, adding a touch of crisp angularity to the transition between bowl and shank. The shank is both wide and long enough to offer ample room to drape a digit, and the well-bent saddle stem promotes a comfortable smoking posture. Handsome grain abounds throughout the stummel, emphasized by Cavicchi's contrast-rich Brown Smooth finish. Altogether, this piece showcases the artisan's knack for reading, shaping, and finishing a block of briar, and it's sure to make a fetching addition to any pipe collection.
