About This Pipe
Larry Roush, a jeweler and machinist, wanted to learn how to make pipes. Mike Butera, a pipe maker, wanted to learn how to fit his pipes with jewelry-quality accents. They got together and taught each other, one result being this massive Cherrywood with beautifully wide growth rings encircling the bowl with consistency and cragginess. The smooth rim is very wide, the insulating walls very thick, the sitting capabilities firm. An elegant wedding band-style sterling silver ring graces the shank end. The brindled vulcanite stem is a demure but intoxicating variegated black and dark blue, appearing black from a distance but taking on personality and color up close. If you've wondered about Roush pipes, or have heard about Larry's briar curing techniques that produce neutral and excellent smoking characteristics, this may finally be the piece for you to satisfy your curiosity.
