Sandblasted Mini Tomato Tobacco Pipe

Tennessee-based artisan Micah Redmond is known for combining the compact, muscular shaping of American pipe making with the soft curves and flowing, organic lines of the Danish style. He's also been known to play with proportion, with many of his pipes featuring either dramatically long or extra-abbreviated shanks. This Mini Tomato takes that experimentation to the extreme — not just at the shank, but throughout the entire composition, resulting in an incredibly diminutive and exceptionally charming Nosewarmer.

Measuring a scant 3.3 inches in total length, the minuscule dimensions of this pipe are best appreciated in person. While I'm always one to admire a palm-filling bowl, the stark disparity between the size of my, admittedly already small, hand and this intensely petite pipe gives me a sense of glee I haven't experienced from holding any other pipe. Though it's an exceptionally tiny piece (I can't emphasize this enough) it still retains the lovely finish work that has become the standard for Redmond. Crafting a pipe as small as this one requires an immense amount of precision and attention to detail, and those are certainly on display here, all wrapped up with a dark, crisp sandblast and a wonderfully complementary stem of caramel-hued Bakelite.
