Smooth Tomato with Moose Bone (0421) Tobacco Pipe

Nanna Ivarsson continues the Ivarsson family's revered pipe-making legacy, and her pipes are considered among the best in the world, both in craftsmanship and design. This Tomato maintains an oft-seen aesthetic from the Danish artisan in the form of an extended shank that curls gradually upward, and such an aspect creates visual momentum in profile that urges forward into the bowl's forward cant. Said bowl is a squat Tomato shape, with a slight hint at the Acorn in its downward taper, but with a broad nature and plump nature in hand. The bowl's substance conforms well to wrapped fingers, and such a broad stance offers plenty of surface area on which to showcase dense whorls of birdseye all across the rim. Horizontal grain, then, flow down along the flanks and through the shank. Fittingly, the shank is oval of cross section which continues the bowl's splayed shaping and also maintains visual appreciation of the briar's birdseye grain patterns above and below. A rich contrast stain highlights the grain perfectly, and the shank end is accented by a trim ring of moose bone for elegant contrast.
