This is one of my top three. I really enjoy this after a good cup of coffee, or sitting around a fire at the end of the day. This is one of the best from Seattle Pipe Club. I cant wait to crack open a rum aged one when I finish this one! Hard to beat!

Excellent blend. During the colder months I turn more to smoking English blends, and more and more I find myself reaching for Mississippi River. The dark smokiness of the latakia is enhanced beautifully by the tanginess of the Orientals, almost a vinegar flavor. I know that doesn't sound appealing on the surface, but the tang hits my taste buds differently from any other tobacco flavors and lingers on the tongue long after the smokiness has gone. Every time I crack open the tin and the smell hits my nose my mouth begins to water and I know I'm in for a very pleasant and enjoyable smoking experience. I already have several 1/2 pound tins cellared and am always adding more. Hands down one of my all time favorite blends....Read More

It has some wonderful red Virginia with a more than a pinch of perique. VaPer smokers may be familiar with the tastes generated by the initial pulls. The flavors are married and consistent. The bowl builds as you smoke it. All that sweet grassy mist on the tip of your tongue. The orientals are in there somewhere but in the back seat and being talked over. Smokes well once you have it lit. All of this to say that it isn't that it is bad, it’s pleasant, but the price may not be justified...Read More

I can't say I'd rank this under repurchasing, but it's worth trying at least once to try out a classic Lankford. However, Plum pudding slaughters this blend.

2009 Tin note of smoky spices, dark chocolate and mild ketchup. Tobacco is a 1/4-inch broken Krumble Kakes of mostly black and a dark brown with a little brown. Moisture content is ok, some pipe smokers will want to dry it a bit. The Krumble Kake rubs out with a little effort. Burns slow with many relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and mostly consistent, with notes of mild smoky, sweet dark fruit, woody, spices, floral, sugar, savory, musty herbal hay, salty toasted bread, orange peel/zest, very earthy, sweet grass, dark cocoa, a mild tart citrus and mildly spicy background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Latakia, Oriental/Turkish and Perique supporting. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More
