707 Sweet Virginia Pipe Tobacco

I originally purchased this for blending. Having tried this as a smoke on it's own I felt it was just OK. After about 8 months of sitting in my bulk container I decided to try it again. This has become a wonderful all day smoke. It's smooth and sweet. I will be buying more to age.

At the time I ordered, this was listed as ribbon cut, but it was more of a rubbed flake. The initial acidity was pleasant and citric, with a slow draw, but the flavor became acrid halfway through my bowls. Required drying, but I found it had a thin threshold between "ready" and "too dry". Will be trying something else for a plain Virginia in the future....Read More

There's not much sweetness to this which one would expect from a rubbed-out VA flake. I expected a sweet, bready, grassy/hay with a honied sweetness, but what I tasted was more cellulosic/woody/pulp with just a bit of hay/bread with an occasional floral note. There's nothing memorable or astounding that would make me want to buy large quantities and age it. Smoke it cool and slow for best flavor. I didn't get any bite whatsoever....Read More

Jar note of spices, sweet fruit, and hay. Tobacco looks like a ready rub or tumbled out flake. The orangish tan and brown tobacco is on the dry side and rub out easily, no dying needed. Burns slow with a few extra relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is mild to medium and consistent, with complex notes of lemon zest, wood, sweet grass, spicy, earth, floral, very bread, tangy stewed fruit, herbal spice, a sweet hay like background note, and a peppery retro.
