New STG Sutliff bulk

I recently acquired an older USA-produced lb and a new STG lb. The new lb is slightly darker but has similar rum/maple topping. Can definitely tell that this is fresher tobacco. I left it out to dry, a bit damp out of the bag. It still seems to have the same components, but the previous production had a more sweet flavor(not by much but it’s noticeable). Current production is smooth, has a nice flavor and doesn’t bite if you sip it slowly. I could see this as an all day smoke. Sad all the other blends went away but glad this one is still available! First, yes, it is an aromatic. Take that for what it's worth. However, it is really pretty good. It has both strength and flavor, which is very unusual for aromatics. Usually you get all aroma, no flavor, no strength. This has all three. The aroma is very strong maple, not much rum. The flavor is mostly tobacco, which is perfect. You get to have a very nice room note while enjoying some great nutty burley flavor. It's sad that Sutliff is gone. I have a small jar with about four ounces left, about five years old. Once it's gone, it's gone forever. Edit: Apparently this blend is sticking around, being managed by STG along with two or three of Sutliff's other aromatics. Good news....Read More

A smooth and sweet smoke

It has a sweet, pleasant aroma and is a bit difficult to keep lit at the beginning, but once the cake is formed, it burns smoothly. It’s delightful to smoke. I couldn’t distinguish a rum flavour, and the sweet taste is more pronounced toward the end of the smoke.

this is my favorite aromatic i smoke. it is a more complex tobacco than most aromatics, and the topping is just wonderful. the maple is very forward, a slight butteriness to it right behind. the rum flavor hits me on the side of the tongue. very far below there’s a slight fruitiness to it that makes this blend brighter than you would think. it is still a very night time blend in my opinion, but the very subtle fruit helps liven it up a bit. man i love this stuff...Read More
