Founded in 1841, Drucquer & Sons was a famed London tobacco shop that relocated to Berkeley, California, in 1928. The shop was more than just a tobacconist though; it was a community. It was where some of the greatest tobacco blenders in recent memory — like Carl Ehwa of McClelland and Gregory Pease of G.L. Pease — first plunged their hands into fragrant tobacco. The historic shop may be gone, but its rich history and brand of pipe tobaccos continues, reformulated from their original recipes by Gregory Pease (and made by Cornell & Diehl) for the modern smoker.
"Rule, Britannia!" was composed by Thomas Arne in 1740, when he set music to the poem of the same name written by Scottish poet James Thomson, and it would go on to become one of the most popular English patriotic songs of all time. Inspired by the song's moving lyrics and music, Drucquer & Sons' Rule Britannia is a rich and complex English blend presented in a distinguished crumble plug. Blend-wise, Rule Britannia is a harmonious mix of exotic Turkish tobaccos, carefully balanced with a medley of Bright and Red Virginia leaf and a touch of Latakia for added depth and smoky sophistication in refined English style. Deep and nuanced, this mixture offers spicy, piquant flavor notes, and its plug cut ensures that it's primed for aging.

Upon opening,the tin note is dark,barbeque,dried fruity hint,herbal,woodsy,smoky,musty,earthy and floral sweetness.Comes in a nice crumble plug with mild moisture content.Easy to break,easy to pack and ready to be enjoyed straight out of the tin.No drying time needed.
Taking the flames easily with few relights,burns cool, slow and very consistent throughout the bowl.
Smoky,zesty,tangy,earthy,dried fruity,figgy,bready,creamy,dark bitter sweetness,herbal,spicy,incense and bloom of floral hint.Beautiful orchestral ballads by the Turkish Orientals,Red and Bright Virginias and Latakia supporting in the background.Sip it slow for a rich,deep,complex and very well balanced flavorful quality smokes with a satisfying nicotine punch and nice peppery tingle in the retrohale.It has minor rough edges,yet no tedency to bite and no harshness.The notable hint reminded me of a cross between King’s Fool and Blairgowrie with an extra full mouthfeel and velvety smoothness.Simply elegant!
Rule Britannia is definitely a great addition to the Drucquer & Sons strong line up and a cellar worthy blend by The Master Blender Gregory Pease.
