About This Pipe Tobacco

Esoterica's Margate is a classical English mixture done in the "old style" of many of the fine tobaccos that have now disappeared from the market place. Choice Orientals and generous quantities of premium Cyprian Latakia keynote this rich, full-bodied blend. A well balanced, robust, and eminently satisfying smoke.

A rich, complex, all-day English. This stuff reminds me of Presbyterian Mixture crossed with Early Morning Pipe. I recommend it. I only wish it was more available. If you'd like to know more, check out my youtube video. My name is the predestinedpiper on all socials.

I steered away from Englishes for a long time because tasting "leather" didn't sound appealing. I understand that description but it is very misleading. I have loved Englishes since the first time I tried one. This one wasn't my first but is one of my favorites! Just a great smoky savoriness with sour/sweet in the background that comes to the foreground here and there, with a floral spice from the oritentals. Esoterica's own description is correct! Best English blend I have smoked. I wish I preferred something easier to get, but alas! I have an easy time mechanically, too. Only 1-2 relights, maybe 3 in a very deep bowl.

Package note of smoky, sour dark fruit and barnyard hay. Tobacco is a Shag cut of black, dark brown and tan. Moisture content is great. No drying/prep needed. Burns fast with few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium to full and very consistent, with notes of smoky, sweet musty hay, spices, toast, herbal incense, floral, dry wood, sugar, tart and tangy citrus, savory, fermented sour fruit, moderately spicy, a zesty orange peel and sweet grass background note, and a peppery retro. Oriental/Turkish is leading most of the time (but not by much) with Latakia and Virginia supporting. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great....Read More
