n a jar, but a little more mild and sweeter. This smokes very cool, and very smoothly. It can sometimes be a bit moist when first opened, but once it's dried a little, it smokes like a dream. I love the complex, tangy, smoky sweetness, that actually seem a bit salty, which sounds odd, but round out all the harsh edges of some Englishes very, very well. Best English blend I have smoked. I wish I preferred something easier to get, but alas! I have an easy time mechanically, too. Only 1-2 relights, maybe 3 in a very deep bowl.

Margate is a clean English blend. If you miss the quality tobacco blends from before the large U.K. production got shut down or moved to Denmark then this is about as close as you are going to get.

r untouched until now. On this retry I discovered that the tobacco fairy had converted what was a fairly washed out shag into a near perfect light english.
Smooth and slightly sweet, burns cool - an all day smoke if there ever was one. It's sad that this blend and its brothers have all but disappeared from the market. But if you do get a chance do try it out. Read Less

e good reviews everywhere, leads me to believe its just overhyped due to short supply. I've tried it in a whole lot of different pipes, packed tight and loose as well as somewhere in between. No matter how I've tried it, it seems to be a bland boring smoke although it does smoke cool and dry. Not unsmoke-able but hoping this one gets better with some age. Read Less

If you like latakia then this is a tobacco for you, there is some sweetness to this tobacco. Not that interested in the shag cut, but that is not to take away from this tobacco, just a good smoke.

Superb! Possibly the best English blend from possibly the finest blender J.F. Germain. A Rich, exotic, smooth and cool smoke. Cellar a tin - its even better with age.

This is a delicious blend, with great latakia and fabulous orientals. However, considering the proportions and the role they play, and despite what many people say, I call it a Balkan mixture. Anyway, it's great and worthy of the fame.
