A shared experience

hich makes sense, because that is exactly what it is). However in the smoke it was harsh, unenjoyable, with notes of "pencil shavings" that some people describe dark fired kentucky having. Was sorely disappointed because I was looking forward to another navy style blend (my favorite type of blend). I jarred it up and gave it a couple months. After getting some aeration time the blend changes completely. In the smoke the dark fired kentucky starts off the blend with strong bbq and smokey notes, but maybe after 15 minutes it flips. The sweet virginias take over. Towards the end of the bowl the dark fired kentucky is practically unnoticeable to me. The rum offers sweet molassesy notes throughout the smoke that compliment the dark fired very well. My advice: jar it up, give it its wait time that it needs, and then you'll enjoy it later. Smoking from a tin with over 7 years of age, and it is bright, enlivening, and pleasantly strong. 7 years ago it seemed rough around the edges, but that's a good thing. Spicy, sweet, & uplifting, I always enjoy returning to a fine bowl of Navigator. Life is good!

ghts, burns and smokes well straight out of the tin. Folds and stuffs beautifully. But sneaky strong in a way navy blends of any kind usually aren’t, and not a blend for newbies, unless they’re used to a lot of vitamin-N from elsewhere. This one’s a keeper. No aging required....Read More

iry mud. I'll throw it back in the bin for another year, maybe pre-soak the jar with rum since there is a complete absence of it, I guess I'll see if anything improves but if the tobacco needs this my question is why buy it? Having said that the beauty of our hobby is everyone's flavor palate is different. in any case I hope your smoke goes better than mine....Read More
