d slicing the plug in 1/8" slices. Then turn them on their side and chop them around 3/16" so you have a nice even cube like chop. Rub it apart and dry for maybe 10 minutes. Pack medium and give it a char. Pack it more firmly and with your Czech tool pin, step some air holes straight down the center to open a little more draw and relight. You won't have to tamp again for 20 minutes. The blend is like a roller coaster offering great complexity around every corner. So smooth, so tasty. Read Less

the tin art!!!) The plug cut is magnificent: Beautiful black, rawhide and straw perfectly pressed and presented. It's a joy to break apart and pack! The smoke is just as it should be: nag champa and cedar, an orange orchard off in the distance...musty hay bales in a wide open field; the firepit embers putt puffing their radiant aromas. I get something that shouldn't be there but adds another level of curiosity and delight: Roasted walnuts like Burley has donned the costume of one of the real players. Its brilliant. It's a fresh batch to boot which impresses me even more. I'm so happy I grabbed a tin to smoke now and slowly over the next weeks and if discipline allows, months... as well as a second one to grow and show its graduated character in a year or two. s), needs prepared with a knife which can be time consuming. Plug cuts aren’t for most people and I don’t prefer them but I found it hard to believe that GL Pease had put out a substandard product so I bought a can. The blend is excellent. Taste is subjective. Large amounts of Latakia leave an oily film in the mouth that can linger for many hours. Too much latakia in this for me but that may explain the ‘tar taste’ people have described. Gaslight is one of Greg’s most beloved blends and not my favorite of his. If I was marooned on a desert island with 100 cans of this I would still die a happy man. To each his own. The blend is exactly what it claims to be, a well rounded English plug with hints of leather and smoke. Be prepared to spend time slicing and dicing to acquire your desired consistency. Then dry what you have cut. Drying damp tobacco is essential or it will not stay lit. Leave it sitting on a wooden cutting board for however long it takes to get most of the moisture out. I usually pack my bowls the night before and smoke them in the morning or evening. Since my house is about 40% humidity this allows me to smoke the pipe with two flicks of a lighter It’s good folks. I grew up on a farm and have always found Gaslight to have a "raw milk" note that comes through all the deep campfire smoke Latakia notes that I REALLY enjoy. Spark Plug is like taking that raw milk not and making a shake out of it....while pushing down the Wharf piling creosote notes just a bit while turning up the aged leather notebook notes at the same time. There's a "brown leather" note that comes through more in Spark Plug whereas Gaslight is more dark tar wharf piling. Those darker notes are still present of course but they are asked to ride parallel to lighter / sweeter elements in Spark Plug.
Gaslight and now Spark Plug are the only two blends I've ever felt compelled to "stockpile" and I'm definitely in for more on Spark Plug. Read Less

so pronounced. Not just visually in the plug itself, but also in the flavor profile. You can really distinctly detect each tobacco and pull out their individual nuances throughout the smoke. Those nuances themselves are deep, heavy, smoky, creamy, oily, goodness. There's those great notes of creosote found in many fine Englishes and I was able to pull out some hints of walnut as well. The room note is probably not going to please too many nonsmokers, as you might imagine, with big billowing clouds of rich woody and creosotey, if that's a word... lol, smoke. But, I like the tin note, as I find it quite fitting for a blend named Spark Plug, because, to me, it reminds me, very much, of the oily auto shops I used to work in as a teenager. Taste is medium to full and mostly consistent, with complex notes of wood, spiced bread, smoky, sweet, earth, floral, mildly spicy, leather, herbal, lemon zest, buttery, fermented vegetation, incense, a mildly sweet background note, and a peppery retro. 点火后依然是浓郁的L草带来的皮革味道，然后变成O草带来的烤面包风味，烟气过鼻无刺激，烟气量也不算多，劲道也没有其他斗友说的那么大。
到了中段始终是烤面包的味道，和翻车的那一斗相比少了很多甜味，始终是比较平淡的烤面包味道，会夹杂 这一点点果脯的酸味，没有多少甜味。

an I can (if you love Latakia, you’ll really like this stuff), but for me it’s as exciting as a curvy mountain road in the MG, plenty of fun twists and turns with this tobacco. I’m mainly into aromatics, but this would be my desert island choice. I prefer 19mm or smaller bowls to intensify the flavors and find this spark plug really sings (revs) in my Savinelli 104 which is now dedicated to this stuff. I have 5 more tins on the way and need to be cautious not to burn myself out smoking only this for a while, but it’s so good. I’ve never put weight on tin art / marketing in my tobacco decisions, but it really fits this one well. The tin art, wonderful smell, and amazing full taste bring back continuous memories of shenanigans in the MG when I was younger; start me up. Read Less

After cutting a slice cross-grain, sometimes I dice it up like running it through a blender; other times, I cut the slice into matchstick-like pieces. Either way, it smokes well. and some nice leather. But the latakia doesn't take up too much room. And the rest of the action during a bowl of this is so fun and relaxing. I get sweetness and nuttiness -- tones that can dip between hazelnut and, at sweeter points, more like praline. There's wisps of peat, maybe those come out of the latakia? Sometimes the sweetness will take a gentle fruit turn. I've gotten small stone fruit like cherry/apricot off in a corner -- not artificial at all or intrusive. Just an elemental flavor popping in. A little semi-sweet chocolate does the same thing at moments. It's just really fun to smoke. So balanced and dynamic, and put together. If anyone's a musician, it's like when a great band is playing together and totally in the pocket. Preparation isn't the prettiest -- the plug is slightly on the lose side, I find, so it can cut a bit ragged. It can be kind of stemmy and chunky even when I slice it thin with a razor. But also -- who cares! I like a little drying time, and find it's a little more cooperative after that. But it's not uncooperative if I load it pretty quick. I'd recommend trying to this anyone. moke upon opening. The flavors work very well together and float in and out, but are never totally absent in this great smoke. I can tell you what the tobacco tastes like, but I am not experienced enough to pick out the Virginias or Turkish flavor. For me, Spark Plug has a combination of flavors which complement each other all the way to the bottom of the bowl. I have now learned it is better to stop short of the bottom to prevent burnout. There is no bite or throat issues with this blend and it seems to be a medium strength tobacco. You may want to pack this tobacco very lightly and sip slowly. They need to produce this in 8oz tins. I have tasted more than 200 english blends around the world there was only one similar plug in a limited edition of an artisan in Kiel, Germany. The characteristic note comes from a varietal of oriental leaf that infuses a very special, new until now taste similar to cedar. Latakia lovers as I'm will have your expected dose also. Yes indeed, this is a nice medium English blend, just a notch down from Gaslight, wonderful, a great all day smoke, or a mild break from the strong blends.
