A wonderful blend. My favorite English so far. As with all G.L. Pease blends, you can taste hints of each individual tobacco in the blend as you enjoy a bowl.

After cracking the tin and sniffing that initial aroma you can tell it’s an English but you really do get that bbq joint vibe thing going on. The tin note is delectable!
The fact that it’s a flake makes me like it even more. This is my third flake blend and I have to say that flake blends are so easy in all aspects. Perfect moisture, rubs out beautifully and falls into place when loading up the pipe nicely.
Like most reviews state, there definitely is a mesquite bbq thing going on which is like no other blend I’ve tried thus far. I like it. It’s actually smooth and savoury with that little bit of sweetened bbq flavour.
The spice is detectable through normal puffing and through the retro hail from the orientals, very nice. This one doesn’t have that predominant campfire thing going on like other Latakia based English’s I’ve tried, but very much has that “smoking brisket” in the backyard picture painted around it.

Surprise, surprise - Mr. Pease strikes again. Gave it a shot puff after popping the tin and was a little overwhelmed. Put it in a hinged mason jar for a week, then gave it another shot. Wow, big difference, really settled it down.

I'll start with I absolutely cannot stand the tin note of any English I've tried. That smokey note just hits my sinuses all wrong. However, I am a fan of smoking English blends, that isn't saying much though as I've found very few tobaccos i don't like smoking. My first tin of this has an almost gasoline like smell to the tin note, but after about 2 months in a jar it had calmed down a bit. Having said that it is quite moist to me. Broken flake needs just a little dry time after breaking up. Flavor is surprisingly mild for how strong the tin note is. Good solid consistent flavor. Not as diverse a flavor as nightcap is, but rather extremely consistent through the whole bowl. Slightly smokey, sweet, and something I can't quite put my finger on. Either way, it's very good. The taste isn't super strong to me, the nicotine is extremely mild at best. Again though very good. No tongue bite, actually one of the coolest smoking blends to me. Upon opening..a wonderful aroma lingering..
Dark,sweet,floral,spicy,creamy smoky character detected.
Comes with a perfect moisture content.Easy to rub and very smokeable without any drying time as we don’t want to loose the beautiful nuances in this blend..very well behaved with very few relights.Fabulous smokes,medium to full flavor with mild kick vitamin N to my opinion.Smooth,sweet,dark,caramely,smoky,fruity,tangy,floral,nice sprinkle of spice and fragrant in retrohale with zero tongue bite.
Personally... this is an another winner by Gregory Pease.
The combo of Turkish Latakia,Stoved Red & Flue Cured VA and Oriental are in perfect balance creating an elegant smokes.A medium to full flavored English with lots going on..glad that this blend was not a limited run.Hahahha!😁😁😁

Somewhat similar to Quiet nights, but with a distinct mesquite sweetness in the latakia setting it apart. The end of the bowl reminds me of the sweetness of gaslight. GL Pease makes some of my most favorite Oriental based blends and this is no exception but the star of the show is the latakia. Only two blend I am aware of have this new style latakia and they are both excellent. This blend has a warm buttered cayenne top note that tickles the nose at the bottom of the bowl. The latakia is good with a smoky brown sugar and stone fruit essence over burnt toffee is my best explanation. The flavor profile is a tic or two over medium but the power level is a tick or two under medium. This makes for a spicy blend that won't knock your socks off. While this may seem just "another English blend", I think this is a new flavor profile in the spirit of an English blend. This does taste a tiny bit similar to Quiet Nights, but smoother, if you sip it and slow smoke it.
It's a definite step up from CD Sunset Harbor Flake, a bit more sophisticated and refined but close to and a bit milder than Quiet Nights.
A nice smooth smoke with a bright finish, almost finishes like Quiet Nights.
The taste is smooth, the retro hale is really fragrant.
If you like CDs Sunset Harbor Flake, you'll love this Medium to mediu high flavored tobacco! This a different change of pace from Quiet Nights, a bit milder....Read More
