There is a reason why this tobacco is so popular, and why it's been around for a very long time.
There is, to me, a sweet fruity topping that lasts throughout the entire bowl. The topping is light, does not detract from the flavors of the tobacco, and rather enhances the experience.

I received a bag of this at the Chicago pipe show. I really like flakes and cakes of any sort. Not even knowing what components make up the blend, I went in blind. I cubed a bit to mix in with rubbed out portion and let it sit for 20 minutes before adding it to a Savi 320 KS . I lit it once and twenty minutes later it was still smoldering and it burned cool . I kept waiting for something to make me ooh awe or wow but I found the taste to be unimpressive. The quality is great, it smokes very well and I was shocked to find out it is a pure Virginia because it never hinted at overheating. I don’t get any of the flavors that other reviews mention so I will try a different pipe and preparation and see what happens....Read More

Very good blend. The flakes are easy to work with. Lights well and burn clean. I usually let them dry for 30 minutes so the flavor of the casing dissipates a little. That's my only complaint is the casing. It very slight but just enough to add an unnatural sweetness to an already sweet blend. I would still recommend it to others though....Read More

I'm an aro fan, but I blended Mac Baren Virginia flake with C&D dark chocolate to give it more strength in a controlled and more enjoyable way.
Now that Mac Baren Vanilla Flake is discontinued, I finally found the alternative:
PS 402 Luxury Twist Flake
This tobacco is not exactly similar, but I just blended it with C&D dark chocolate and I'm in heaven! It gave the dark chocolate the desired boost. I got some ounces on a suggestion and had a few bowls upon its arrival. Not sure when produced for P.S. blends having no "date stickers." It's pleasantly flavorful, yes...tasty, but has a bit of harshness to contend with and it's just a bit too "green" for me right now.
