About This Pipe

Claudio Cavicchi is truly a master of his craft, able to coax the best possible grain out of every piece of briar he shapes. Originally a farmer, Claudio was first inspired to make pipes after an order he placed for one with his local tobacconist took many months to fill. What resulted was not only a pipe almost exactly like the one Cavicchi was looking for, but a passion that has lasted since 1974. A world-champion slow-smoker with three titles under his belt, Claudio Cavicchi relentlessly seeks perfection in every pipe that he crafts, not only able to read grain exceptionally well, but able to engineer pipes that smoke magnificently.

Cavicchi exclusively utilizes briar that’s been specially selected after painstaking inspection, and each block is aged and cured for an additional two years before being carved. His shaping style primarily revolves around classic designs rendered in expressive, Italian neoclassical proportions, often featuring bold, substantial bowls with muscular walls. Cavicchi's style is immediately recognizable, and his finishes are nothing short of iconic: The majority of his pipes boast vibrant, honeyed stains graded from one to five "C" stamps. Other finishes include crisp sandblasts in either a black or an auburn stain, a chestnut-toned smooth stain, or — for his best pipes — the penultimate, ruby-toned Perla grade, and the vanishingly-rare, superlative Diamante grade.
