About This Pipe
Canadian artisan Michael Parks believes pipes are meant to be objects of art and collectability as well as utility, and he applies this philosophy to every piece he hand-carves. With over two decades of experience under his belt, Parks has curated a style that skillfully balances contemporary aesthetics with classic principles of pipe design. This Billiard, for example, is a bold, muscular take on the classic shape, yet still retains a strong sense of balance and harmony.
The bowl is tall and muscular, with a generous chamber well over two inches deep, making this offering well-suited for long, satisfying smoking sessions. This strapping bowl poises proudly at the fore of a low-set, tapering shank-and-stem arrangement, which offers ample room to comfortably drape a digit. Attractive grain abounds throughout the stummel, with hearty tendrils of flame grain climbing the bowl and particularly dense birdseye swirling around the rim. A smooth, chestnut finish accentuates this lovely grain, and maintains a classic, elegant look when paired to the iconic Billiard shape. Being an earlier piece from Parks, this is sure to entice connoisseurs and collectors of his work.
