About This Pipe
Based in Serbia, the DS Djuragin workshop is run by husband-and-wife pipe-making duo Darko and Sanela. The couple handcrafts each piece, with Darko handling the shaping and Sanela doing the detailing and finishing work. Their meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality contribute to their low annual production rate, making this Freehand something of a rarity, being one of only a few pieces we've ever received from them at Smokingpipes. Featuring a plump, Egg-like bowl paired to a triangular shank so thick it approximates the height of the bowl, this is certainly an eye-catching piece. The stem is just as distinctive as the stummel, featuring triangular shoulders made from morta, a semi-petrified bog oak. The morta's grain adds even more visual intrigue to the already unique composition, and a smooth, warm finish dresses the stummel, highlighting the briar's lovely grain.
