About This Pipe

Michael Butera has been crafting pipes since the '70s, and he has trained many of today's well-known American artisans, including Larry Roush, Steve Weiner, and Michael Frey. Since he produces a limited number of pipes, estate offerings from Butera are a rare treat for collectors, making this already highly unique briar and meerschaum Dublin a particularly exciting find.

This Dublin features a threaded, removable bowl paired to a rusticated meerschaum shank joined by a briar stem with a similarly threaded tenon. There's a pleasing alternation between the briar bowl, meerschaum shank, and briar stem that imbues the overall composition with a keen sense of balance, especially in terms of texture and tone. The shank's rustication offers ample tactile intrigue, while the smooth bowl showcases gorgeous straight grain and birdseye, and the stem shows off hearty tendrils of flame grain. Both striking and practical, this offering is sure to make a unique addition to any pipe collection.
