About This Pipe
American carver Walt Cannoy fashions a wide range of shapes, from classic Anglo-French standards to more whimsical Freehand designs, with this Billiard being a prime example of the former. Shape-wise, this piece sees a trim, tubular bowl posed at the fore of a short, arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement. In conjunction with the bowl, the shank and stem manage to keep the shape balanced, both visually and in hand. The bowl houses a generous chamber within its slender frame, ensuring plenty of satisfying smoking sessions. Cannoy's unique micro-textural "suede" finish, achieved by using an ultra-fine medium to remove only a tiny amount of the soft wood from the surface, adorns the stummel alongside a warm auburn stain, with the rim left smooth for contrast. The cumberland stem's horn accent provides a handsome complement to the pipe's palette.
