About This Pipe
With his background in fine arts, it is no surprise that Bill Shalosky has such a wide diversity of influences. He is known to cite "every pipe ever made" as impacting his style, which is quite apparent in the diversity of design that his portfolio covers: his creations ranging from classic Anglo-French designs to those clearly inspired by the Danish Fancy Freehand movement.
This Billiard from Shalosky hews closely to traditional Anglo-French shaping standards, with balanced proportions throughout. Like many standard Billiards, the bowl stands with a minute forward cant before the cylindrical, arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement, and the shank maintains a thickness that is proportional to that of the bowl. The stummel wears a rich, ochre-hued sandblast showing off perfectly oriented cross grain. With its light weight and the stimulating texture of the finish, this Billiard can be an easy clench or a comfortable in-hand pipe.
