About This Pipe
Bill Shalosky, a Fine Arts graduate and seasoned pipe smoker, brings a wide range of influences to his work. Now an accomplished artisan at BriarWorks, he cites "every pipe ever made" as part of his inspiration. This open-ended design philosophy is fully displayed in this Windshield Billiard, a design that dates back to the early days of Dunhill when Alfred Dunhill created a line of pipes for automobile drivers.
This Windshield Billiard is a functional design, complete with a raised wall at the front of the bowl to protect the chamber's ember from the elements. The bowl has thick, insulating walls and a sturdy presence that feels substantial in hand. The well-bent shank-and-stem arrangement extends out back, allowing the pipe to be easily brought to the mouth or hung from the jaw. The shank is proportionately balanced with the bowl, maintaining a firm, sturdy profile throughout the briar.
Completing the design is a stylized saddle stem that bends gracefully to the bit. The stummel is finished in a light sandblast, highlighting stacked growth rings along the front wall of the bowl. Ideal for outdoor smokers or those who enjoy a contemplative walk with a pipe in hand, this Windshield Billiard is a testament to Shalosky's thoughtful craftsmanship and timeless design sensibility.
