About This Pipe
Max Rimensi of Il Duca has devoted decades of his life to his craft, having entered the pipe-making world at the mere age of 14. The Italian artisan boasts an eclectic style, his portfolio displaying Danish and German influences, as well as those of his homeland. This Cherrywood from Rimensi is a fascinating take on the classic shape, and it certainly speaks to his unique style.
The bowl of this Cherrywood tapers subtly while simultaneously slanting forward with energetic momentum. The same energetic momentum has been applied to the shank, albeit in the opposite direction, as it vaults into the air where it's joined by an equally high-kicking, lengthy stem. The width of the flared shank approximates that of the trim, narrow bowl, and the shank face is adorned with a crisp band of boxwood that adds a pop of lightness to the otherwise dark, rich color palette. The cumberland stem has a flared base that aligns with the shank face but doesn't quite match its circumference, instead creating a concentric circle that adds further emphasis to the boxwood accent. All in all, with its gorgeous shaping and finishing, cavernous chamber, and flat, sure-sitting heel, this Cherrywood is sure to make a fetching and reliable desk pipe.
