About This Pipe
Ryan Alden of Texas has a background in a wide array of physical arts, including sculpting, leatherworking, and woodturning. This bent Dublin of his making is finished with an excellent sandblast that manages not to overwhelm the flame grain of the bowl while still bringing out the growth rings stretching across the entire length of the stummel. The bowl is lightly conical and forgoes the typical forward cant, leading back to a mildly bent shank. The saddle stem is a minutely bent length of vulcanite with an accent of spalted wood near the junction — a natural touch that gives a nod to Ryan's abilities with raw materials.
