About This Pipe
Tonino Jacono got his start in pipe making in 1981 when he joined forces with his brother-in-law, who shared his interest in the craft, and his father-in-law, who owned a briar-cutting mill. At first, the trio would share in the pipes' production, with his father-in-law drilling the pipes, his brother-in-law shaping them, and Tonino finishing them. These days, however, Tonino heads production on his own, utilizing charmingly old-school tools and techniques and sustaining the workshop's legacy of excellent pipes at fair prices.
This striking Brandy Sitter from Jacono is fashioned from olivewood, and boasts exceptionally robust proportions, especially about the bowl. Said bowl is framed by bulging curves that give the form a hearty and playful appearance, and it displays some cheeking at the transition, which leads to a thick, low-set, cylindrical shank. An arrow-straight saddle stem completes the ensemble; its slender bit adds a touch of sleekness to this hearty pipe's profile. The iridescent, emerald green coloring of the stem plays quite nicely off the light, warm finish of the olivewood, which showcases unique, swirling tendrils of grain that are sure to help this pipe stand out even more, among even the most crowded of collections.
