About This Pipe
Dated back to 1911, the Ardor marque is a long-lasting family business that was re-established in 1974 by the father-son duo Angelo and Dorelio Rovero. After Angelo's passing in 1999, Dorelio took over the business alongside Damiano and Dimitri, the next generation of Rovera craftsmen. A classically inclined bent Apple, this offering from Ardor places a supple bowl at the fore of a demurely bent shank and stem. The stummel wears Ardor's Meteora finish, named after a rock formation in Greece, upon which one of the largest complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries is built. Owing to its namesake, this finish boasts a wealth of textural variety and sees the surface of this piece dressed in a rugged rustication set beneath a latticed arrangement of smooth, carved channels.
