About This Pipe

With roots dating back to 1911, Ardor has a rich history. After his father founded the Sociedade Rovera workshop in Varese, Italy, young Angelo Rovera knew he wanted to carry on the family's legacy within the pipe industry. With the help of his son, Dorelio, Angelo established Ardor in 1974, and worked to maintain the high level of craftsmanship and quality products he'd been brought up with. After Angelo's passing in 1999, his grandsons, Damiano and Dimitri, took over the business and still run it today. Together, they carry the torch and keep their family's legacy burning bright.

This Fantasy bent Egg lives up to its name, featuring bold shaping and finish work that borders on avant-garde. This pipe still retains the broad hallmarks of the bent Egg shape: The bowl exudes plumpness while tapering at both the rim and heel to create the signature ovoid shape. It also displays an energetic forward cant that pairs well with the upswept shank and high-kicking stem, both of which feature the signature stylized mount of Ardor's Fantasy line. Dressed in the marque's Satellite finish, which we haven't seen many examples of before, the stummel wears a series of carved channels that are not unlike those of the Alveare finish, but instead of horizontal channels, the ones on this Satellite are vertical, emphasizing the bowl's towering height. All together, this is a striking piece that's sure to stand out from any pipe rack, and it thoroughly demonstrates Adrdor's penchant for bold, inventive design.
