About This Pipe

With a storied history dating back to 1911, the Ardor marque is a long-standing family business that is still owned and operated by the descendants of the original founder. After his father founded Sociedade Rovera in Varese, Italy, young Angelo Rovera knew he wanted to carry on the family's legacy within the pipe industry. With the help of his son, Angelo established Ardor in 1974, and worked to maintain the high level of craftsmanship and quality products he'd been brought up with. After Angelo's passing over 20 years later in 1999, his grandsons, Damiano and Dimitri, took over the business and still run it today.

This bent Dublin from Ardor is an interesting iteration of the classic shape. Subtle ridgelines extend through the shank to the bowl's flanks, and all the way up to the rim, giving said rim a lenticular look when viewed from above. Out back, a broad transition provides ample room to wrap the thumb and marks the start of the shank that lifts up to join a tan acrylic accent. A metallic band protrudes from the shank face, which meets a stylized stem made of the same shimmering acrylic as the aforementioned accent. The stummel wears Ardor's iconic Meteora finish, named after the dramatic rock formations in Greece that are home to a group of Eastern Orthodox monasteries. The finish offers plenty of textural variety, with rugged rustication set beneath a latticed arrangement of carved channels.
