About This Pipe

Belgian-born artisan Bruno Nuttens' entrance into the pipe world came by way of an estate batch he purchased in 2012. He only intended to keep and smoke one pipe from this batch, but he hated the thought of wasting the rest, so he began restoring them. His skills only grew from there, and he went on to restore over 7,000 pipes in six years. After being inducted into the Confrérie des Maîtres Pipiers de Saint-Claude in 2013, Nuttens began making pipes, inspired and assisted by fellow inductee Pierre Morel. He turned to carving full-time in 2018, and he has since distinguished himself as a deft craftsman of high-quality smoking instruments such as this Handmade bent Dublin.

As the name suggests, the Handmade line is comprised of pipes shaped and finished entirely by hand, thus representing the most singular, time- and labor-intensive offerings to come from the artisan's workshop. This bent Dublin is an especially lovely offering with its elegant profile and rich, luxurious, monochromatic color palette. The bowl's thick, insulating walls flare gracefully as they rise from the narrow heel to the softly inflated rim, and a tight-knit transition out back introduces an upturned, cylindrical shank joined by a lengthy, comfortably bent saddle stem. Said stem is made from cumberland, and it perfectly complements the rich, smooth, burgundy finish that emphasizes the briar's gorgeous grain. Having earned Nuttens' coveted AAA grade, this pipe is a truly venerable offering.
