About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.
This bent Dublin from Cavicchi is a highly distinctive take on the classic shape, featuring a rather pointed heel below the bowl's trademark flaring walls. Because of these thick, flaring walls, the bowl dominates the composition, taking on a self-assured forward cant as it stands at the fore of a flaring, upturned shank. Craggy plateau adorns the shank face, and a stylized stem of acrylic tops off the composition, its double expansion rings injecting a pleasing sense of visual rhythm to the piece. Dressed in Cavicchi's signature smooth, honey-blonde finish, the stummel showcases a wealth of handsome grain, with tight tendrils of flame grain fanning across the walls of the bowl and exceptional birdseye decorating the rim.
