About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.
This Lovat from Cavicchi is a bold, architectural take on the classic shape, exhibiting clean, sleek lines and plenty of Italian neoclassical substance. The tall bowl towers above the composition, its straight, tubular walls establishing an imposing presence. The protracted cylindrical shank offers ample room to drape a digit, and it's met by a brief saddle stem fashioned from jet-black acrylic. The stummel wears a craggy black sandblast, which only adds to the pipe's bold yet sophisticated aesthetic, and offers plenty of tactile detail for the fingers to appreciate.
