His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.

For the most part, this bent Billiard from Cavicchi appears to be a relatively straightforward, Italian neoclassical rendering of the classic shape. The bowl holds most of the composition's visual weight by far, yet there's an eye-catching little flourish added to the shank that one can't help but notice. The shank's bottom horizon veers down in angular, almost stair-step fashion, adding just a touch of crispness to the pipe's otherwise fluid profile. A gently downturned saddle stem joins the stylized shank, its curvature promoting a comfortable smoking posture, and the stummel wears Cavicchi's Brown Sandblasted finish, which reveals the briar's grain in rich tactile detail and an even richer color palette.
