About This Pipe

Though foregoing any overt asymmetry (or really any asymmetry at all), this bent Egg from Jared Coles seems to exude a sense of organic presence, with its gentle, yet bold sense of gesture and softly curved shaping. It's quite a substantial piece, with a comforting, and likewise stimulating feel in hand, balancing a distinctly forward-inclined bowl with a rearward-kicking shank and stem combination in profile. Jared opted to treat this one to a dark, understated sandblast, with layer after layer of tight ring-grain climbing all flanks, paired to a warm, smooth ruby stain at the rim and a ring accent of pale boxwood at the shank's end. Really nice work here.
