About This Pipe

Jared Coles has presented us with a handful in this pipe. Large and flowing, with a restrained Danish Freehand style, it highlights excellent grain, careful shaping and remarkable plateau at the rim and shank end. The plateau is partially finished, so there are merely licks of it protruding from the smooth surface, and it is beautiful. With an abbreviated mouthpiece, all of the visual weight is placed on the stummel, but that's not to say the rest has been ignored. Topping the end of the shank is a bit of mammoth bone. The underside of the piece is also remarkable, with two crisp, sharp ridges running along the underside of the shank. With grain for miles completely covering the bowl, it's a visual as well as tactile feast, with plenty of briar and craftsmanship to keep you interested.
