About This Pipe
Rooted in the centuries-old pipe-making tradition of Saint-Claude, La Bruyere reflects the craftsmanship and understated style of artisan Thomas Manzoni. For the past 15 years, Manzoni has worked at Chapuis-Comoy, specializing in pipe assembly for everything from classic shapes to spigots and army mounts, while also developing his own skills as a pipe maker. Trained by Pierre Morel and Bruno Nuttens, his work embraces a contemporary-classic aesthetic, pairing pure, traditional shapes with carefully selected briar, morta, olive wood, and other fine materials, all with an emphasis on creating pipes that smoke as beautifully as they look.
With a classically inclined sense of proportions, this bent Billiard from La Bruyere features an almost elliptical flow throughout. The curve of the shank and stem is understated, while the bowl's forward cant lends the pipe a subtle checkmark profile. The stummel is sandblasted, highlighting the stacked growth rings throughout the bowl, all stained in a dark ruby hue.
