About This Pipe
Luiz Lavos began his pipe-making journey in São Paulo, Brazil, inspired by time spent in his grandfather's woodworking shop. With a background in graphic design, he combines artisticness with skilled craftsmanship, and his style blends classic Danish influence with a bold sensibility that's distinctly his own. This Peewit by Luiz Lavos is a handsome interpretation of the original Sixten Ivarsson shape, showcasing his command of traditional design and attention to thoughtful detailing. The bowl is full and flowing, rising from a sharply defined heel to a chamfered rim, all canted forward to create a sense of momentum that carries through the entire composition. A low-set transition flows seamlessly into a sharply upturned shank, paired with a gently curved saddle stem that echoes the profile's graceful lines.
Adding a touch of contrast, the shank is capped with a domed accent of pale horn, its smooth flare complementing the soft curves of the shank. The vulcanite stem features crisp, rounded shoulders at its base, further enhancing the pipe's sculptural appeal. Finished in a warm, contrast-rich stain, the stummel reveals vibrant flame grain along the flanks and delicate birdseye across the heel —an elegant display of Lavos's craftsmanship and keen eye for detail.
