About This Pipe

Quite the interesting bent Apple rendition from American carver Mark Tinsky, this piece presents with a gentle curvature throughout its build that both draws the eye toward the bowl and brings attention to Tinsky's crisp line work. Said line work is most prominent through the shank and stem as, not only do they form a soft S-curve, but they are diamond-shaped, with a quartet of ridgelines running from the transitional area to the base. At the transition, we see these ridges dissipate into the briar smoothly, the wideness of the transition itself allowing for the easy draping of the thumb and giving rise to a plump, pert, bulb of a bowl. This bowl showcases a rounded heel that forms a low-set waistline which marks an easy taper to the rim, the surfaces here a lovely canvas for the Cabernet finish which dresses the briar in a warm, auburn-walnut stain.
