About This Pipe

While her boldly-proportioned, often plateau-kissed renditions are undeniably stunning in their own right, Nanna Ivarsson's seriously bowl-centric, bulbous Acorn and Tomato shapes really seem to catch my eye, and this fellow is no different. The softly inflated, mushroom-like poise of the bowl is beautifully handled, with a more gradual, forward-inclined sense of curve at the fore balanced by a slightly paunch-like shifting of visual weight at the aft.

There's loads of briar to the chamber walls, and Nanna's made gorgeous use of that exterior, highlighting loads of feathery flame and birdseye with one of her fetching contrast finishes. The eye is effortlessly guided to the neatly-pinched transition, where windswept flame acts as a nice path directly to the handsome boxwood mount. A saddle stem sporting a domed base serves to play with a little negative space out back, overall making for a composition that should rightly preside over your collection with a playful prestige.
