About This Pipe
One of the most recognizable marques in Italy today, the Radice workshop was founded in 1980 when Luigi Radice decided to embark on a new pipe-making journey alongside his two sons, Gianluca and Marzio. Previously, Luigi made pipes for Castello, and before that, Caminetto. Under his new namesake brand, he offered high-quality pipes carved in the unmistakable Italian neoclassical style. He experimented with innovative new designs, new rusticating and carving styles, and curing methods — many of which are still utilized by the marque to this day.
Although Radice pipes usually exude the bowl-centric Italian aesthetic, this Billiard offers a balanced composition that reminds one more of the Anglo-French school. The bowl features a notable taper to the rim and a rounded, conservative heel, a diversion from the traditionally cylindrical walls and jutting heels of Italian Billiards. Out back, the shank is thicker than most Billiards, further shifting the pipe's balance to the rear. This offering comes dressed in Radice's iconic Silk Cut sandblast, which reveals a wealth of stimulating texture for the hand to appreciate.
