About This Pipe
This is only the second Picta Magritte "05" that we have been privileged to put up for sale, and I find the composition wonderfully agreeable. The inspiration for the shape came from the pipe that is featured in Magritte's "La Buona Fede" ("The Good Faith"). Far and away, the shapes that hail from the Magritte series are the most immediately intuitive and accessible (something of a given, the pipes that appeared in the Belgian surrealist's art are the most immediately recognizable modern forms of the three artists) and the shaping of this bent dublin is as delightful as the sandblasted grain is dazzling.
